Kundalini Yoga
The word yoga means “divine union” of the individual self and universal consciousness. Kundalini Yoga is also known as the Yoga of Awareness, and is a practice linking movement and breath work (also known as pranayama), along with music, meditation, and chanting or mantra, to help balance the body and mind, and awaken and harness the universal life force within the body, known as prana. Kundalini Yoga practice helps to balance and strengthen the nervous system, glandular and immune system, and enables one to gain mastery of the powerful energy of the mind and emotions. Kundalini yoga was first taught publicly in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan, who challenged the ancient tradition of secrecy among the yogis. Kundalini yoga is a universal and nondenominational practice that anyone can do. It is a gentle yet dynamic and powerful tool for enhancing and expanding awareness, and is beneficial on many levels, physical, mental, and spiritual.
